Motion Industries, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Genuine Parts Company, announced today that it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Axis New England and Axis New York, an automation and robotics company based in Danvers, Massachusetts. Execution of the transaction will occur on March 1, subject to the satisfaction of customary closing conditions.

The Chemours Company, a global chemistry company, today announced the startup of the new Opteon YF (HFO-1234yf) low global warming potential (GWP) refrigerant production facility at its Corpus Christi manufacturing plant in Ingleside, Texas. This facility will enable Chemours to triple the global capacity of its hydrofluoroolefin (HFO) 1234yf-based products to meet increasing market demands for more environmentally sustainable refrigerants and blends.

BlueVolt, in cooperation with market research firm Cascade Insights, has released the second edition of its “Voice of the E-Learner” survey, which asked 1,327 workers from manufacturers and distributors in the electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and industrial tools industries about their perceptions of online learning. This year’s findings showed a 27 percent drop — from 59 percent in 2016 to 33 percent in 2018 — in the number of learners who were “very satisfied” with their organization’s online training programs.

Most every service company has had prospective customers call in to schedule an appointment with a dispatcher, only to cancel that same appointment at a later time. It could be because of a number of factors: They found a competitor with lower prices, someone who could come out sooner, and the list goes on. However, not every service contractor measures their cancellation rates.

According to a report by Technavio, the global market is expected to increase by more than 7 percent from 2018 to 2022, driven by a desire for more energy-efficient and energy-neutral technologies to improve the indoor climate. With more homeowners and building owners looking to advance the technologies in their structures to make them smarter, more efficient, or just more comfortable, it’s in a contractor’s best interest to become proficient in radiant heating and cooling systems to further expand their market — or, to dominate a niche market.

Ventilation systems designed for office buildings may recirculate most of the air and only supply a small percentage of fresh air, but architectural and building codes require that laboratory rooms and vivaria use only fresh outside air for ventilation. This design difference explains why laboratories require so much more energy to operate.
